Hello my babytiful friends!
Last June I made a collaboration with Carmen, who owns the blog MLC and I talked about travelling to the beautiful city of Granada with a baby. Find it here under with al the tips and recommendations!

In collaboration with Carmen I've made a travel guide to visit the lovely city of Granada in just 1 day and a half!! I recommend to stay longer to really enjoy the city but we couldn't stay more.... this makes an excuse to come back soon! We are visiting the south of Spain and Portugal so we need to spend some time in the places we chose to visit during our sabbatical.
My husband Juan and myself are travelling with our baby Alma who is 9 months, during 6 weeks, as we are having a break from our work at babytiful (www.babytiful.com) though we still send the orders out to our clients and we are active on the social media. You can find us @babytiful (Instagram + Facebook + Pinterest) or www.babytiful.com.
So I'll give some tips and recommendations hoping to help you in your visit to Granada!
Where to stay:
I recommend you to stay in the city center close to the catedral where there are pedestrian streets and it's very close to all amenities you need.
We chose to stay at "Al Andalus apartment" (Gracia st, 26) and I highly recommend it. It's a block of apartments in a big house, all are around a courtyard. We had a 2 bedroom apartment in the second floor, and they provided a travel cot for Alma. We bought some food and milk from Mercadona supermarket (15' walking from the apartment) and we had breakfast at the apartment as it's handier with a baby.
The beds are so confortable and there is air conditioner to stay fresh in it! Also there is free wifi and tv.

What to see:
• Alhambra + Palace Carlos V + museum Alhambra: its the first thing we visited in the morning, though we didn't visit the Alhambra (you need to book your ticket in advance or pay twice its price buying it on a travel agency) we went up there to visit the Carlos V Palace and the Alhambra museum which both are free. The main entry "Puerta de la Justicia" built in 1348 is just spectacular!!! There is a great view from outside this palace to Albaycin. Also you can visit the Museum of Alhambra which is inside the palace and it's free, they have amazing pieces from the Alhambra and other palaces from that time.

• Catedral and Alcaiceria: the catedral is impressive and it's the second largest catedral in Spain. In the south of the catedral you will find the Alcaiceria, originally the Moorish silk bazaar and now it's a narrow beautiful street where they sell souvenirs and the typical "Fajalauza" ceramic pottery or "Taracea" art made in the wood.

• Albaycin: it's the old Arab quarter with a strong Muslim influence, it's another world! It's a labyrinth of narrow cobblestone streets in a hill. You can access to it through the "paseo de los tristes" (Carrera de Darro) known with this name "Sad street" as it was the way to go to the cementery. In this street you can visit the 'Bañuelos" the oldest best kept Arab hamman in Spain -€5 entry- and the "Patio de los perfumes" where you can do either a workshop to learn making your own perfume or a guided tour of the beautiful courtyard and the museum -€9 entry- ending with a drink in the courtyard!! We really enjoyed the tour and the guide and all staff in there were just fabulous!!

If you climb up the streets you will reach the 'Mirador de San Nicolas" where you will enjoy a well worth view from La Alhambra and the Granada city. The sunsets from up there are just speechless!! I will tell you a secret... we went into the mosque next to the "Mirador de San Nicolas" and we had the same amazing views from there and it was much less crowed and more peaceful than Mirador San Nicolas ;-)

• Calle Calderería Nueva: on the way down you can go through this narrow street where you will some beautiful tea shops/bars/restaurants with muslin influence and typical shops to buy souvenirs and Arab sweets, they are yummy yummy!! Beautiful and unique street!

Where to eat:
• Cafetería Puerta Bernina: calle Alhondiga 4
We had a delicious Pionono, a typical sweet from Granada, and a fresh iced coffee! All with great price!

• La Mimbre restaurant at the Alhambra: Paseo del Generalife, 18
After the visit at the Palace Carlos V area, we stoped in this lovely restaurant where we had lunch outside at the patio. We had a very taste "salmorejo" ( a cold tomato soup typical from the south of Spain) and a combined plate with salad and meat.
• Lemon and rock Bar Hostel: calle Montalban 6
We came here to have a drink and tapas! The hostel has a bar and it's in a manor house with a courtyard from the XVII century, a must to see!

Tips:
• Take the train tour and pay online with PayPal, they apply you a small discount!.
• Take your baby in a sling to visit Albaycin as it's all the Albaycin area is in a hill with narrow cobblestone streets.
• Bring fresh water with you! It can be hot (you can thank me later hahaha!).
• In the same hotel street there is a huge baby shop called B.A. Buenos Aires where you can buy some items you need or have forgotten! We bought a he'd test for Alma for her baby car.
• If you come by car, you can use the parking at Calle Paz st (€17 daily) which is 2' walking from the apartment.
• In case of an emergency with your baby, you can attend the Hospital Virgen Nieves. Unfortunately we had to go there with Alma on the last day as she had conjuntivitis and vomits. Remember to bring your health card with you!
• And finally but not least!! Bring your babytiful teethers and baby accessories with you to entertain your baby and make him/her chew them to relief her teething pain!!! You can find them at www.babytiful.com or write me an email at babytiful@outlook.com

Enjoy!!!! Hope this post can help you with the visit!!
Love,
Carol
